My First Time ... Golfing. Jeez. Clean Up Your Thoughts
Home. |
This will surprise my wife and pretty much everybody who thinks I'm a wild and out-there trier of new things. Gastronomically, that is correct. Otherwise, not so much.
Skiing didn't start until 25. I was in Utah and friends and family were coming to visit. They all wanted to go skiing. I wasn't going to NOT go skiing, so I had to learn. I fell in love with it on my first day, in the worst-possible conditions.
Cliff diving was new. I've never jumped into water from more than 20 feet. That changed yesterday.
Maybe it's a normal part of the human condition. We don't like to try new things. Or we don't always like to try new things.
Which is why sometimes we need a shove. My push comes from T-Dubs, who doesn't get nearly enough credit for getting me to try new things.
That's why tomorrow I will be a member at the Nonesuch Golf Club (named, of course, for the scenic Nonesuch River, which I'm guessing somebody didn't believe was there). This isn't a big deal, obviously, in the adrenaline scheme of things.
Something about being a golf course member scares me off. I can't put my finger on it. But T-Dubs is insisting I join a golf club. She is, after all, going to Florida for five weeks. And she's in Vermont for the next two. It's not like I have anything better to do other than take pictures of my dog.
I'll probably be more Chevy Chase than Rodney Dangerfield. If you don't get the reference, you need to watch TV with me sometime. Caddyshack is the greatest movie of all-time. That's your takeaway from today's blog.
Why do people like Caddyshack? It has 10 minutes of hilarious cast members like Dangerfield, Chase, and Murray, but the rest of it is composed of that boring douchebag who plays a caddy.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I watched Caddyshack with everyone telling me it was the best sports movie ever. Uh...really? Not so. Rodney Dangerfield was probably the most annoying "comic" on the planet. The term comic is used loosely. No, I don't respect you, Rodney.
ReplyDeleteI dislike golf. But, I like that you are doing something new. I like pictures of your dog. 64-5-7.
Hell with 'Caddyshack' reviews: Where is T-Dubs staying in Vermont, and will you be passing through New Hampshire en route to visit/pick up her?
